A place that formerly used a hydraulic hammer that would be dropped onto molten metal and push it into a die to shape into various things. Now the hammer is raised by pulley and kept in place by a series of ratcheting supports until it needs to be released again. The process is much slower without the ability to efficiently adjust the control valves that control the hydraulic pressure.
The drop forge also houses other metal working practices like hand forging and a mechanical stamping press. Hand forging is the easier metal working application in this factory but the ability to stamp out large pieces of flat metal with the help of many men make this place unique.
They are willing to trade for scrap metal. Go figure.
